News and Notes
Boys Home “Stuff” Drive!
Date & Time: Now until Wednesday, November 1st
We are in our final month for the Lake Waccamaw Boys Home “Stuff” Drive!!! So far we’ve had some really great donations but there’s plenty more on the list that they are still in need of! Take a look around your house and see what you have to donate – just think about the many smiles you’ll be putting on the boys’ faces!! Also, the “Seeds of Change” bucket is back and will be at Monday’s meeting, so bring with you whatever spare change you may have lying around or even what’s in your pockets from that day! It’s not very often that these kids get things that aren’t second hand, so let’s see if we can’t but them a few things that are BRAND NEW!! Lastly, but certainly not least, we’ll be visiting the Boys at Lake Waccamaw on Saturday, November 4th, so mark it on your calendar!! We’ll be bringing lunch to them and playing board games (unless it’s nice enough to be outside). Plus, we’ll need some helping hands to bring all of our donations to the cottage! If you are interested in donating or attending the Boys Home visit, please e-mail Kristi Baleno at CommunityDevelopmentVP@chapelhilljaycees.org.
Here is the wish list that the NC Jaycees are trying to fulfill!! These items are essential to making life at the Jaycee Cottage better. Check and see what you might have to offer!
· 9 bike locks
· Sheet Sets, Twin Size
· Comforters, Twin Size
· Blankets
· Pillows
· School Supplies
· Bathroom floor mats
· Lamps
· Light bulbs
· Batteries
· Dinnerware, Flatware, Pots Pans, Place Mats
· Microwave
· Can Opener
· Tapes and DVD's rated PG or G
· Nightlights
· Gaming systems with games (we have an Xbox!!!)
· Plastic totes for clothes and supplies/storage
· Books, Magazines, Board Games
· Cheerful Art, posters, any decorations
· Curtains - especially kitchen
· Cordless Telephone
· Office Chair
· Iron
· Vacuum Cleaner
· Portable DVD player for trips
· And last but not least.....7 Passenger Van. This is important since some of the other cottages have vans, and the Jaycee cottage has to ask to use theirs, which doesn't always work out. It would be great to have the big Jaycee emblems on the side...great advertisement!
· We also will be taking monetary donations (that way we can buy NEW items!!)
Board Nominations
Do you or someone you know want to be on next year's Board of Directors? If so, please contact Christina Jaromin at president@chapelhilljaycees.org to nominate someone. Nominations will be accepted until October 16, 2006. Elections will be held at the October 23 meeting. Not sure what positions are available? See below!
