Cooking Dinner at the Ronald McDonald House
Date & Time: Thursday, October 5, 5:30-7:30pm
It's time again to cook dinner at the Ronald McDonald House. We'll be cooking a stew, and will need help chopping and stirring. Anyone who can give assistance before 5:30 would be smiled upon, although help will be needed after 5:30pm too! If you are interested in attending, please e-mail Kristi Baleno at CommunityDevelopmentVP@chapelhilljaycees.org.

Board Nominations
Do you or someone you know want to be on next year's Board of Directors? If so, please contact Christina Jaromin at president@chapelhilljaycees.org to nominate someone. Nominations will be accepted until October 16, 2006. Elections will be held at the October 23 meeting. Not sure what positions are available? See below!
oPresident- Facilitates bi-monthly General Membership Meetings (GMM's) and monthly Board Meetings; provides leadership to other Board Members and General Members; establishes direction for the Chapter; ensures the Chapter is on the path to achieving long-term strategic goals; represents the Chapter at regional, state, and national Jaycees functions as appropriate; represents Chapter at community events including Chamber of Commerce events; is mouthpiece for organization in the press. oMembership Vice President- Responsible for the recruitment and retention of members; serves as main contact person for general inquiries about the Jaycees and/or the Chapter; meets and introduces guests at GMM's; ensures that members? expectations are being met (ie. conducts membership surveys, calls members, approaches members in-person, etc.); maintains and distributes monthly membership roster; ensures annual dues are collected from new and renewing members and that checks are mailed to NC Jaycees in compliance with deadlines; creates, revises, and distributes Chapter membership material, etc. Current Membership Vice President is Melissa Feder. oManagement Vice President- Responsible for Ways and Means projects (fundraising for Chapter funds); fundraising for other non-profit organizations (charitable contributions); public relations, including serving as key PR contact for the Chapter, writing and submitting press releases to local newspapers and state/regional Jaycees newsletters about our activities, projects, and achievements; creates weekly Chapter newsletter and distributes to members via the list-serv (or delegates to Secretary or Newsletter editor). oIndividual Development Vice President- Directs, plans, and organizes ID activities that are consistent with the interests and expectations of our members (conducts ID Survey when necessary, can be in conjunction with Membership Survey); recruits ID project chairpersons; delegates projects to project chairpersons and provides leadership and support to all ID project chairpersons. ID projects include, but are not limited to, Cuisine Night, Happy Hour, Book Club, etc. Current IDVP is Tim Miller. He can be reached at IndividualDevelopmentVP@chapelhilljaycees.org.
oCommunity Development Vice President- Directs, plans, and organizes CD activities that are consistent with the needs of our local community and the interests of our members; develops and maintains key relationships with other non-profit organizations and community leaders/contacts; recruits CD project chairpersons, delegates projects to project chairpersons and provides leadership and support to all CD project chairpersons; finds new non-profit organizations/projects needing assistance in the community; assists Management VP with fundraising for community organizations. oState Director- Responsible for maintaining communication with the NC Jaycees and remaining knowledgeable about all state projects and activities; communicates the details about state activities, projects, and events to members and GMM's and encourages members to become involved; coordinates chapter visitations in and out of the region; represents the Chapter at State events when the President cannot be present; functions as a liaison between the NC Jaycees and the Chapter. oTreasurer- Responsible for dispersing Chapter funds as requested by the President and Vice Presidents for Chapter expenses, membership dues, and reimbursements for Jaycees-related expenditures paid out-of-pocket by members with approval from Board Members; tracks revenue and expenses; reconciles budget and distributes monthly budget report at Board meetings; files Chapter taxes when necessary. oSecretary- Keeps records/minutes of GMM's & Board meetings to send to Webmaster to add to website; assists President and VP's as needed, which may include creating and distributing weekly Chapter newsletter, updating the online calendar of events, assisting with creation and/or submission of press releases; other duties as appropriate.
