General Membership Meeting
Date: Monday, March 27, 7-8pm
Come to our next General Membership meeting on Monday, March 27 to see at Tai Chi demonstration with Instructor Lao Ma and our very own Joe Beal. Be prepared to participate! We will also be collecting stuffed animals for the Easter Cheer to Last All Year Drive (see below). It is also the day to turn in your money for the Ronald McDonald Sport-a-Shirt, Share-a-Night fundraiser (see below).
Easter Cheer to Last All Year
Date: Monday March 27th, at the General Membership Meeting
The Gulf Coast has been hit very hard and everyone deserves a little something to uplift their spirits. They felt as though they have been overlooked and many are still living amidst the destruction and ruin. The Monroe Louisiana Jaycees have asked us to help them out with this project. Please bring a new or gently used stuffed animal (Teddy Bears, Easter Chicks, Easter Bunnies, etc.) to the meeting and we will ship what you have donated to the Gulf Coast. If you would prefer, you can make a monetary donation. Your stuffed animal & monetary donations will be MATCHED by the Chapel Hill Jaycees treasury, so be sure to give this your all. It has been rumored that the Dollar Store in New Hope Commons has regulations sized stuffed animals for $1! E-mail Christina Jaromin at President@chapelhilljaycees.org with any questions. As a challenge to you, the Chapel Hill Firefighters also donated 3 HUGE boxes of stuffed animals to send down. Are you willing to step up to the challenge?
Sport-a-Shirt, Share-a-Night
Date: Monday, March 27th, 7pm
Want to help a family just by getting dressed in the morning? You can! Purchase a $10 t-shirt and supplement a night's stay for a family at the Ronald McDonald House of Chapel Hill. The cost to stay for one night at RMH is $10, and that cost can be too high for some families to pay while their child is at UNC Hospital for treatment. If you are interested, please contact Peter DeStaebler at CommunityDevelopmentVP@chapelhilljaycees.org. The actual day to Sport your Shirt is Friday, April 28th.
Charity Tuesday to Support the Triangle Burn Support Group
Date: Tuesday, March 28th, all day
The January Foundation will sponsor a Charity Tuesday at Top of the Hill Restaurant and Brewery...(all day and into the night)...to raise money for the recently formed Triangle Burn Support Group. TBSG is a support group for burn survivors, family and friends. Spread the word...more people, more money raised. Go have a drink at Top of the Hill any time on this day and $1 from each purchase of a Charity Tuesday-eligible beverage (beers and non-alcoholic choices) will be donated to raise money for this support group. If you are interested in going as a group in the early evening, please email Melissa Feder at MembershipVP@chapelhilljaycees.org.
Random Sushi Night, with a twist!
Date: Thursday, March 30, 7-9pm
That's right, it's back by popular demand! Random Sushi Night will be held on Thursday, March 30th at Tsunami Sushi & Noodles on Hwy 54 next to Mardi Gras Bowling Alley. It's time to mix it up and try this sushi restaurant! E-mail Christina Jaromin at President@chapelhilljaycees.org if you are interested in attending. Also, PLEASE BRING CASH as they will not be able to separate the check!
Membership Flyer Blitz
Date: Saturday, April 1, 10:30am-1:30pm
We need volunteers to distribute flyers advertising our upcoming membership recruitment night (M-Night). We will meet at Brixx Pizza in Meadowmont (located off of Hwy 54 in Chapel Hill), divide into teams, and each team will be responsible for a different route. We will be distributing flyers at apartment complexes, UNC campus, and various businesses throughout Chapel Hill. Then we will all meet back at Brixx Pizza for lunch on the Jaycees. Pizzas will be purchased for everyone to share. Please contact Melissa Feder at MembershipVP@chapelhilljaycees.org if you are interested in participating.
