Chapel Hill Jaycees C.A.R.E. Date: Saturday, 9/17 Time: 10a-4:30p
On Saturday, September 17th from 11am-4pm in the University Mall Parking Lot (near Wachovia Bank at the corner of Estes & Willow Drives) we will be doing a Katrina Relief Drive for people who were effected by Hurricane Katrina. We will set up at 10am and need your help to set up and tear down. Please contact Sharon Worthington (sharon.worthington@gmail.com) if you can volunteer some of your time on Saturday. Items we are collecting include:
Food items (can openers, single serving snacks, peanut butter, high protein canned meals, other single serving meals not requiring refrigeration)
Personal hygiene items (Deodorant, body lotion, body wash soaps, female products, disposable shavers, denture cleaners, hair care products for both men and women, shampoo, toothbrushes/toothpaste, dental floss, rubbing alcohol, band-aids)
Linens (Bath towels-all sizes, blankets)
Cleaning supplies (bleach, disposable gloves, hand sanitizer, laundry detergents, cleaning wipes)
Paper products (Toilet paper, paper towels, napkins)
Baby items (Formula, diapers, baby wipes and other baby supplies)
Miscellaneous (flip flops, inexpensive watches, sewing kits, backpacks/bags, school supplies, children's toys, books, puzzles- games, socks)
All pet items (food/leashes, etc.)
Cornucopia House Fundraiser Date: Saturday, 9/17 Time: 5:30p-9:30p
We will be assisting the Cornucopia House with a fundraising event at the Eno River Unitarian Universalist Fellowship, in Durham. Contact Tim Miller for more information.
Membership Drive/Cookout Date: Sunday, 9/18 Time: 4p-6p
On Sunday, September 18 from 4-6pm a membership drive/cookout for the Verge Apartment residents and prospective new members. Please come out and tell everyone why the Jaycees are a cool group to join! The Verge is located at 5110 Old Chapel Hill Rd, in Durham across from Five Oaks. Contact Melissa Brumback at mbrumback@rl-law.com if you'd like to help out next Sunday.
Random Sushi Night It's time again to eat sushi, and what better day to do it then International Talk Like a Pirate Day. On Monday, September 19th, at 7pm we'll be eating at Akai Hana in Carrboro. Fall Convention Dates: Fri-Sun, 9/23-25 Times: Varies, see the tentative agenda
The fall installment of the NC Jaycees State Convention will be returning this fall. It will be held at the downtown Marriot hotel in Winston-Salem, Sept. 23-25 . The theme is the "Jaycees Oscars," dressing for the "red carpet" is encouraged but not required :) It's a fun way to meet Jaycees from other chapters; elections for State President and the VPs will also be held. here for the registration form. Cost is now $70 for registration. Hotel room is an additional $92/night, roommate arrangements can and will be made. There will be a carpool. Call Brody Underhill, the State Director, for more information. His cell is 619-5413.

NC State Newsletter The September newsletter is up. Check out the articles from Chapel Hill, including one written by Tim Miller, our Community Development VP. Also included is a listing of the donors who helped to make our Jaycees AIDSWALK team a success.
Networking The networking event, Business After Hours, has been moved to Sept. 26th. Please check the Chamber's website for more information.
