Events
Dinner at Ronald McDonald House Date: Thursday, 7/7 Time: 5:30p-7:30p
We'll be cooking hot dogs & hamburgers for RMH. Come prepared to grill! Meet at the House. We'll be going out to Bailey's for adult beverages when we're done cleaning up. Feel free to just show up. Contact Christina Jaromin for more information.
Happy Hour @ He's Not Here Date: Friday, 7/8 Time: 8:30p-10p
Held the second Friday of each month, the Happy Hour is a social event for chapter members. Prospective members are also invited to attend and meet the members in a relaxed, social setting. Put another way, live bands and cheap beer...need I say more? Contact Tim Miller for more information.
Pita and Painting Night Date: Saturday, 7/09 Time: 6p-9p
Join us for some Greek food at Mediterranean Deli on W. Franklin, followed by a painting and glazing extravaganza at Paint the Earth. Join us for eating, glazing, or both. RSVP to Melissa Brumback.
Asian Covered Dish Dinner Date: Sunday, 7/10 Time: 6p-8p
Come to Chez Winson and eat food from the other side of the world. Bring a dish...it can be cooked by Harris Teeter. Those who desire to bring an Asian-inspired dish are welcome to do so. Email Tim Miller if you seek Asian inspiration. RSVP to Kim (myself). Also, if someone has a folding table I could borrow for the potluck--I could really use it. A card table will do. The food won't fit on the coffee table :)
The CPG: What is it and How to use it Date: Tuesday, 7/12 Time: 7p
What's this "CPG"? It stands for "Chairman's Planning Guide," a planning tool that's similar to a business plan. It's purpose is to help inviduals plan, implement, and evaluate events. It also provides "institutional memory", to bridge turnover within a chapter. Our chapter uses a simplified version of the CPG, called the Project Data Sheet (PDS). So now that you kind of know what we're talking about, we wanted to tell you about the opportunity to learn more about PDS's and CPGs. The Cary Jaycees are hosting a CPG training session to help people navigate through the CPG writing process. Since our PDS's are based on the CPG, this training session would also be useful for anyone who wants to learn more about PDS's. For more information about the CPG training session, click here. Just for kicks, you can access our PDS online library here. For an example of an extensive CPG library, check out the Raleigh Jaycees website. Contact Kim Winson with any questions.
AIDS Walk and Ride Date: Saturday, 8/20 Time: 6p
300 riders, over 1000 walkers, and you! Join us in downtown Raleigh as AIDSWALK goes the distance. It is the same day as the Duke Cancer Center tour--so if you're in town for the tour it would be a short drive over to Raleigh for the walk. Please feel free to forward this email to anyone who would be interested in the project.
Check out the main website at www.aidswalkandride.org. Check out our press release in The Independent weekly.
Our Jaycees Team will be participating in the one-mile walk. The team is forming now and will continue to accept new team members through August 19th. Any current or former Jaycee, their family and friends, and any young professional of Jaycee age (21-40) is welcome to join the team . For more information, please email Kim Winson (secretary@chapelhilljaycees.org). Individuals can also join the Jaycees Team online at http://aidswalkandride.kintera.org/teamjaycees .
You need not be on the team to show your support, donations to the AIDSWALK are highly appreciated. You can donate online at http://tinyurl.com/a4anl
AIDS is one of the top killers of individuals who are of Jaycee age. AIDS services encompass more than medical treatment. They include support services like a food pantry and emergency financial assistance. This walk is a great way to show our support for AIDS services here in North Carolina.
Guests are welcome to all of our events and meetings. |
