Meet and mingle with area professionals at Business Before Hours. Spanky's restaurant will be hosting it this time. It's located at 101 East Franklin Street Chapel Hill, NC 27514. One of our members got a new job after attending one of these events! Don't forget your business cards.

Join us as we talk about "The Watermelon King," by Danny Wallace. He also wrote "Big Fish." If you liked the movie, you'll probably like this book. We're meeting at the Borders Books on 15-501, in the cafe. Please note the change in the date! Contact Kim Winson if you're interested in coming!
Durham Bulls Games Concessions Date: Varies, see description Time: Varies, see description
There are only 5 more games left for our summer Durham Bulls Game fundraiser. We are signed up to run a beer cart on June 9, June 30, and August 11 (all Thursday nights). The games have been super-busy, so we need at least 4-5 people for each date. If you'd like to sign up for any of these dates, let me know. If you have not yet signed up for one, please consider it as it is a lot of fun and a major help to our Chapter. We are also working at First Base Hits concession stand on Friday, July 15 and Sunday, August 28. This is a very high-traffic concession stand, so we need 12-14 people for each of these dates. Please let me know if you are available to work on one or both of these days. Check the online calendar for information on times for these games. Alternatively, you can call or email Melissa Feder with any questions. Thanks in advance for your help!

News and Notes
Memorial Day Weekend Camping Trip Wrap-Up A fun time was had by all at the Chapel Hill Jaycee camping trip to Jordan Lake. Joe Beal, Melissa Feder, Kendra & Jason Fuller, Sara Hogan, and Rob Thompson got to take in the full experience of camping at this very convenient state park. Amber Neill visited us for lunch on Saturday while we floated on Kendra's giant inflatable island and fixed Sunday's breakfast for Saturday's lunch. Our analysis: Anything on a stick cooked over an open fire is good eatin'! This rule definitely includes hot dogs and s'mores. On Sunday the intrepid campers ventured onto the lake itself for a long pontoon boat ride down to the dam and up the Haw river. The lure of civilization called most folks back to their comfy beds on Sunday night. Joe, Melissa, and Rob met up with Melissa & Stephen Brumback and Brody Underhill for a "camping" (?) Mexican dinner at Torreros in Cole Park Plaza. Melissa and Rob managed one more night of push-button showers and rampaging daddy-long-leg spiders before packing up camp on Monday morning. The weather was pleasantly cooperative and the 30-minute drive sure beat braving the highways over the holiday weekend. The canine companionship of Marley "Hogan", Spencer "Fuller", and Shadow "Thompson" was enjoyed (or at least tolerated) by all with Marley's all-round cuteness, Shadow's galiant swim in the lake, and Spencer's tough-dog attitude amusing us all. Thanks to everyone who participated and special kudos to our less experienced campers who bravely tackled the many challenges of camping with grace and aplomb.
Beach Music Fest Wrap-up Three of our members helped the Dare County Jaycees this past weekend with their signature event, the Outer Banks Jaycees Beach Music Fest. Tosha Autrey, myself (Kim Winson), and Sharon Worthington spent a fabulous weekend on the beach as we joined Jaycees from around the state to run the seventh annual music fest. A ton of money was raised for the NC Jaycees Burn Center, as well as several other charities. It was a great way to have fun *and* help charities around the state. Woohoo! Pics coming soon.
NC Jaycees Leader This is a quarterly newspaper-style publication from the state. It contains updates from the state level officers as well as "news and notes" from other NC Jaycees chapters from around the state. If you are a member, you should have received it or you should be receiving it very soon. If you do not get your copy, contact Kim Winson (myself) and I will notify the person in charge of the mailing list.
Happy Birthday... ...to Tim Miller (5/31)!!
