Random Sushi Date: Monday, 5/2 Time: 7p-9p We'll be going to Akai Hana in Carrboro for Random Sushi Night. Please e-mail Christina Jaromin if you plan to attend so we'll have space at the table for you!
Networking Date: Friday, 5/6 Time: 7:30a-9:30a Meet and mingle with other professionals. One of our members got a new job after attending one of these events! Business Before Hours is being hosted by the Aurora Restaurant, 1350 Raleigh Rd., Chapel Hill, NC 27517. Don't forget your business cards!
Fun Party! Date: Friday, 5/6 Time:5:30p-8p Pre-Yard Sale Pricing Party at Chapel Hill Storage - still need more volunteers! We also need a work light so we can see in the dark :) Snacks will be provided. Out to dinner and/or drinks afterwards! Contact Melissa Feder.
Yard Sale Date: Saturday, 5/7 Time: 6:30a-1p Fun Day in the Sun at Southern Village. We still need a lot of people to help us out. We also need the following materials: a metal cash box and blankets/tarps to display the items, Coffee and donuts will be provided! Contact Melissa Feder.
Plant the Planter Date: Tuesday, 5/10 Time: 5:30p-7p That's right, it's time to get out your green (or brown) thumbs and help us beautify the community. We'll be planting our planter at the corner of Franklin & Columbia Streets, directly below Top of the Hill. Come out ready to plant. We have some shovels and gloves, but if you've got a special one you'd like to use, bring that too. We'll be going to Top of the Hill for dinner and beverages afterward. Be sure to wear your Jaycees t-shirt! E-mail Christina Jaromin if you're able to help. It should be a blast!
Durham Bulls Beer Cart (Selling beer) Date: Thursday, 5/12 Time: 5:15p-9:30-ish We still need volunteers to man our beer cart at the Bulls Game. This is our summer fundraiser so that we can continue to fund our community service projects like Plant the Planter and the Ronald McDonald House dinners. We're selling beer on selected dates throughout the summer. Melissa needs three people per date. Volunteers may also be able to watch the game. Contact her if you're interested in helping.
Happy Hour! Date: Friday, 5/13 Time: 8:30p-? Spend freaky friday with the Jaycees at Bub O'Malleys. Held the second Friday of each month, the Happy Hour is a social event for chapter members. Prospective members are also invited to attend and meet the members in a relaxed, social setting. Contact Tim Miller for more information.
Help the IFC Food Bank Date: Saturday, 5/14 Time: 2:30p-7p Help the IFC and the Postal Workers. We'll be helping move food from the Carrboro and Chapel Hill post offices to the Interfaith Council's Food Bank, 110 W. Main Street, in Carrboro. First we'll learn a little bit about the IFC and then we'll start moving food. Meet at the IFC with your Jaycees t-shirts on! We will be going to Tyler's after we're done to have dinner. Convention Returns Date: Friday-Sunday, 5/20-5/22 Time: See the website. The Greensboro Jaycees are hosting convention this time. Come for seminars, awards ceremonies, and other Jaycees. News and Notes
Thank you... Thanks again to Amber Neill, Whitney Kahn, Joe Beal, Sharon Worthington, Erin Peterson, Nicole Stettner, and Christina Jaromin for helping raise the walls and 2nd floor joists last Saturday at the Chamber of Commerce's Habitat for Humanity House. Fun was definitely had by all, even in the small amount of rain we had. Pictures coming soon!
Another Thank-you... Thanks to all who volunteered at Carrboro Day on Sunday! Whitney Kahn, Sharon Worthington, Kim Winson, and Tim Miller had a great time with the kids at this celebration of community. Thank-you to Tim for coordinating this event!
