January: The Water Horse: Legend of the Deep
Recommended By: Charles Krupinski
A heart warming story of a boy who finds closure with a new friend. While at the Loch, he finds a egg that hatches into a magical water horse. The story revolves around the boy and the water horse and they both grow up during WWII. This is a great movie to help you believe in the Loch ness Creature.

State Level Jaycee of the Trimester
Joanna Worrell

Joanna is an outstanding member of the Chapel Hill Jaycees. She was very involved in our three largest fundraisers of the year - the Yard Sale, the Chapel Hill Carrboro Holiday Parade, and the Citipass Fundraiser. Because of her love of clipping coupons, she actually brought the Citipass Fundraiser to the attention of the Chapter and was able to raise over $700 for the Chapter and the Lake Waccamaw Boys & Girls Home. We wouldn't be nearly as successful without her! Thanks Joanna!

Introduction

The Chapel Hill Jaycees provide the opportunity for young adults (age 21-40) to develop personal and leadership skills through local community service, social responsibility, entrepreneurship, and organizational involvement, resulting in positive change.

What does that mean?

Bowling
Habitat For Humanity

We have fun while helping community service organizations, learning about new topics, and business networking with other professionals.

  • Community Development: We help local non-profits, including Habitat for Humanity, Ronald McDonald House, Cornucopia House, Kid-Zoo, and the Chapel Hill Fire Department.

  • Individual Development: We have learned about how to make our homes more secure, why is recycling really important, and heard from the mayors of both Chapel Hill and Carrboro. We have also gone tubing on the Dan River, eaten sushi, and taken a Wine for Dummies class.

  • Membership Development: Membership socials can range from having a cookout at a local apartment complex to having a “happy hour” at a local bar and grill.

  • Management Development: Our annual Yard Sale raises money for the Chapter and for the NC Jaycee Burn Center, located at UNC Hospital. We also work a concession stand at the Durham Bulls Game. We also network with the Chapel Hill Carrboro Chamber of Commerce.

If you're looking for a chance to meet people, make new friends, serve your community and have great fun, come to one of our meetings or send us an email to info@chapelhilljaycees.org.

We look forward to meeting you!
