The Chapel Hill Jaycees provide the
opportunity for young adults (age 21-40) to develop personal and leadership
skills through local community service, social responsibility, entrepreneurship,
and organizational involvement, resulting in positive change.
What
does that mean?
We have fun while helping community service organizations,
learning about new topics, and business networking with
other professionals.
- Community
Development: We
help local non-profits, including Habitat for Humanity,
Ronald McDonald House, Cornucopia House, Kid-Zoo, and
the Chapel Hill Fire Department.
- Individual
Development: We
have learned about how to make our homes more secure,
why is recycling really important, and heard from the
mayors of both Chapel Hill and Carrboro. We have also
gone tubing on the Dan River, eaten sushi, and taken
a Wine for Dummies class.
- Membership Development: Membership
socials can range from having a cookout at a
local apartment complex to having a “happy hour” at
a local bar and grill.
- Management Development: Our annual Yard Sale raises money for
the Chapter and for the NC Jaycee Burn Center, located
at UNC Hospital. We also work a concession stand
at the Durham Bulls Game. We also network with the Chapel
Hill Carrboro Chamber of Commerce.
If you're looking for a chance to meet
people, make new friends, serve your community and have great fun, come to one
of our meetings or send us an email to info@chapelhilljaycees.org.
We
look forward to meeting you!
